Cous-Cous

The scene: Goldie is standing on her chair, shoveling cous-cous into her mouth while spilling it all over the counter/table.

Goldie: "Uh-oh. We need a new table. We should get a purple one." She says looking at her mess.

George: "We need a new table that has a trap door in it to send our food down. Then we wont have to eat."

Goldie: Stops to consider this while resting her spoon inside her diaper. Then takes spoon out of holster and starts shoveling again.

Just another meal at our house.

Lifestyle Upgrade

Clay and I have been considering a lifestyle upgrade with new clothes and a modernist house for a while now, so we decided to give it a trial run.

Here are some scenes from that trail run.

Ultimately we decided it wasn't for us.

BTW: No Milo, he was just born and wasn't invited into this world of swank.

Fine print: okay the truth is Getty Images hired us to play the part of a happy and fancy family. More images on their site...

Happy 1/2 birthday

George turned 4 1/2 today. He spent the greater part of the day planning his party:
The cake I was going to make him, the presents he was going to receive and the friend (Everest) he was going to invite over for pizza.

Fast forward to 4pm, Everest can't come over. There isn't a cake yet and there are no presents. This is a call for Light Rail. (AKA: Sound Transit)

We loaded up the kids and drove to Columbia City where we took
Light Rail to Tukwila International Blvd.

I hate to admit this but we took the kids to George's ideal 4 1/2 birthday spot, McDonald's http://www.mcdonalds.com.

*Gasp*

It wasn't our idea. Our friend Peyman told us about this excursion and George overheard and had been begging to take him ever since.

Confession: it was super fun. The kids played and Clay and I felt like we were on a date, looking into each others eyes while sippin' sweet tea and eating french fries. It was like going to Vios http://www.vioscafe.com, but a whole lot cheaper.

Baby Cactus

Tonight Milo was laying peacefully in his car seat in the kitchen when along came both George and Goldie. George literally climbed into the car seat, on top of Milo and Goldie quickly followed by climbing on top of George and trying to get in Milo's face as well. And if that wasn't enough they then started shoving each other.

My friend Michelle suggested Milo needed a cactus costume. I think she may be right.

Three Cheers for George!

August 23rd, 2009. He'll remember this day forever. It is the day he learned to ride a bike sans training wheels! After a few weeks on a balance bike he hopped onto his two wheeler and peddled away.

I think it is because he wore his Evil Knievel suit. Next he'll be jumping parked cars...

Old School Dance

Tonight I took George to Old School Frozen Custard http://oldschoolfrozencustard.com in his jammies. The flavor, which has been on my calendar for weeks now, was Malted Milk Ball.
Here is George doing the "I'm so excited to have Old School" dance.

Tee-hee!

I just returned home from a class with Goldie where I saw a very sweet woman whose daughter used to be in another of Goldie's classes.

She has three kids as well and was asking me about life with three etc...
Then, with all seriousness, she said, "Are you finding time to eat?"
I almost started laughing, Am I finding time to eat?

I thought to myself I really need more time for eating. 14 hours a day isn't enough.

New Rosh Hashana traditions:

Pig pile on the hostess.

and leave her with a huge mess as you rush out the door to stay ahead of the meltdown.

Thanks Nana!
(Not that she'll ever see this 'cause I've never given her this url...)

Never too early for coffee

That's Goldie and her dear sweet friend Darya. Drinking coffee, okay cocoa, and strolling down Ballard ave after a de-lightful brunch at Bastille http://www.bastilleseattle.com/ and visit to the Ballard Locks.

We had such a nice weekend and I have loads of pictures to post. Check back tonight...

Foot in Mouth

As a parent, I often have moments when I know I shouldn't laugh when my children have done something horrible. Below is one such instance.

Milo had lost his binky and Goldie was forced to improvise

See this grilled cheese sandwich? Wanna know why you can see it so well?
'Cause of our new purdy lights that Clay and Grandpa LaLa installed today!

LaLa said he doesn't like the pictures I post of him on my blog because he claims he is so much better lookin'in person. He's had a few drinks...

Daphne and Scooby

Halloween arrives at our house earlier and earlier each year.

New Tile

Check out the new tile. And the dirty worker men. Grandpa LaLa has been here less than 48 hours and look what he's done. Yay!

Clay's Clone

Clay went to a concert last weekend and his friend, who happened to be performing, saw this guy from the stage and thought it was Clay. Oh how wrong he was. (By the way, Clay's the one on the left.)

I think Clay looks more like this guy.

I guess we see our spouses differently than others see them.

You complete me Hugh Grant... I mean, Clay.

We've made your list, LaLa!

Guess who is coming to visit on Tuesday? Grandpa LaLa!

He's not allowed to leave until he finishes a few tasks. See below:

"Spits Up a Lot. Not Bothered by it."

Our newest piece of art.

Dinner for 14. All of them related to me. One of them not so bright. I don't want to mention names but the one with glasses on his head sent my nephew to school with a slice of pizza in a Thermos bottle. The nephew was expecting a refreshing beverage and had to borrow tweezers from the school nurse to pry his lunch out of a cylinder.

Wad 'o' money George and Clay found on their walk. (Undisclosed amount, more than 50 smackers.)

Milo's 4 month check up yesterday. Our favorite nurse, who George calls Nurse Viola!, gave Milo four inoculations. The little guys was so brave.

While our doctor is off "vacationing" in Africa we have a substitute doctor. Her notes about Milo were as follows. "Spits up a lot, not bothered by it. Happy baby."

Famolare! Get there.

Remember these super cool shoes from the 70's? I saw an old guy wearing them downtown today and actually approached him to let him know how fabulous his shoes were. (He responded with a blank stare and then a faint smile.)

I'm ready for the Famolare comeback!

Clay doesn't have any recollection of these shoes. Apparently they didn't sell them at The Squire Shop in Vancouver, WA.
